Learning Bone Growth 3: The Osteoclast (2020)
Просмотров 4093 года назад
Learning Bone Growth 3 - The Osteoclast (OCl), provides a detailed outline of OCl origin from activated monocytes, stimulated by M-CSF, and RANKL. These activated monocytes aggregate to form a multinucleated giant cell, the OCl, which moves to the raw bone surface, seals itself at its margins, creating a specialized acid environment under a ruffled border. The low pH lyses mineral, and a variet...
Learning Bone Growth 2: The Osteoblast and Woven Bone Formation (2020)

Learning Bone Growth 2 - The Osteoblast (OB) and Woven Bone Formation, provides a detailed outline of the OB, it origin from the mesenchymal stem cell, its pluripotential nature, and the function of this complex cell which is the only agent producing bone in the human. The lifespan and efficiency of the OB are compared to that of the osteoclast (OCl), the only cell deleting bone and mineralized...
Learning Bone Growth 1: Bone Formation -- Background Concepts (2020)
Просмотров 3553 года назад
Learning Bone Growth 1 - Bone Formation Background Concepts was the first video created as we started our quest to demonstrate the growth and development of the human skeleton at a cellular level. Dr. Don Sweet, Dr. Lent Johnson and others at the now-decommissioned Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), had developed an educational approach for understanding the pathophysiology of musculos...
Learning Bone Growth 4: The Osteocyte
Просмотров 4324 года назад
Learning Bone Growth 4 - The Osteocyte - focuses on the cell that is the star of the show in a network so complex that it rivals the human brain, and is analogous in many ways: there are 42 billion cells, versus 86 billion in the brain, 6 times the population of the earth, packed in in a small volume, 1.75 liters versus 1.2 for the brain. The number of connections is astonishing, some 23 trilli...
Osteogenesis 3 Development of a Long Bone
Просмотров 6404 года назад
Osteogenesis 3 - Development of a Long Bone, is a short summary of the histological development of a long bone and surrounding structures. The story starts at ~ 6 weeks in the limb bud of the embryo when the bone starts as a cartilage model. The cartilage cells follow their cell cycle leading to the formation of calcified cartilage internally, and a woven bone collar externally at the primary c...
Osteogenesis 1 - Basic Concepts
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.4 года назад
Osteogenesis 1 - Basic Concepts - sets the ground work that allows the viewer to understand the basic processes that underlie the sequential steps of "building" the skeleton. From conception to ~ 20 years of age, we grow, and accrue bone mass. From~20 to ~40 we are in balance. From 40 on, we are in a state of decline, losing bone mass. We review the categories of disease, which may occur an any...
Osteogenesis 2 - Circulation
Просмотров 3074 года назад
Osteogenesis 2 - Circulation - focuses on the key moment in life history of any cartilage model bone when bone first appears, the initiation of the primary center of ossification or PCO. The focus of the literature is that the cartilage in the model is replaced by endchondral bone formation. Careful analysis of the event shows that bone formation starts in two areas, one external to the cartila...

Superb video
Thank you very much, astonishing presentation.
Very nice explanation, but you dont give the answers to the questions, but is ok
Learnt a lot, very lucid explanation
Thank you! Can you show us the answers?
Free lectures on additional musculoskeletal imaging topics are available through radiologycorelectures.org/msk/
Hello! Where can I find answers to the questions?
Some soft tissue tumors have specific imaging features that allow diagnosis by MR. Those specific imaging features are illustrated in this presentation. This is meant as a review of the imaging features that can help you identify specific histologies.
Part two of an approach to bone tumors: the differential diagnosis for the non-matrix forming tumors including tumors with bone expansion, the common imaging features of small round blue cell tumors, multiple adjacent lytic lesions and other imaging features that indicate a specific tumor type radiographically,
Very nice 👍🙏
Thank you for watching this. I do not know your subspecialty but if you were looking for lectures in musculoskeletal imaging, There are expert lectures free available through the international skeletal society and society of skeletal radiology under radiologycorelectures.org/msk/.
Excellent 👍👍👍
Part 2 where
Excellent thanks
Amazing explanation. Thank you !!
Very nice presentation
Outstanding, even for me as radiology resident
thanks
